What are cookies?
Cookies are small files stored on your device when you visit a website. We use them to keep you signed in, protect the site against abuse, remember your preferences, and, if you agree, to personalise the adverts included in emails sent to Free plan subscribers.
Managing your cookie preferences
When you first visit the site we ask whether you're happy for us to use cookies for advertising and analytics. You can change your mind at any time using the "Cookie preferences" link in the footer of every page. Strictly necessary cookies can't be switched off here as the site won't function without them.
You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings (see here for instructions). This is a blunter tool than the preferences above: it applies to every cookie regardless of category, and disabling the strictly necessary cookies will stop you from being able to log in or use forms on the site.
Strictly necessary cookies
These are required for the site to work and can't be turned off through our cookie preferences. They're only ever used to provide the service you've asked for, such as staying logged in or submitting a form securely.

Advertising cookies
Our Free plan is supported by adverts included in the update emails we send you. If you accept advertising cookies, we work with our partner LiveIntent to show adverts that are more relevant to your interests. To do this, we share a non-reversible hash of your email address with LiveIntent. LiveIntent may also share advertising identifiers with its partners for the same purpose. These cookies are only set if you select "Accept all" in our cookie preferences.
